And the Winner is… WEPA!

WEPA Swalmen awarded with VNP Energy Cup

Our dutch colleagues recently received a special award: the site in Swalmen was named the most energy-efficient mill in the industry nationwide by VNP, the Association of Dutch Paper Mills.

The so-called Energy Cup is awarded once a year. Various criteria are taken into account in the evaluation: from efficiency improvements and low CO2 emissions to the use of renewable energies.

"WEPA presented excellent results and is the more than deserved winner."

the VNP stated.

For example, by investing in a modern steam boiler and processing alternative raw materials (e.g. labels, beverage cartons), CO2 emissions at the Swalmen site were reduced. In addition, the production process was optimized through various efficiency projects and solar energy is used to generate electricity.

Plant manager Andreas von Ameln is delighted with the success.

"Energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies are very important to us. We have already achieved a lot in this area - this trophy confirms that. Many thanks to all who have contributed to this!".
