“In co-operation with our customers, we are doing everything possible to ensure security of supply.”
Martin Krengel has been working at WEPA for 35 years and has been managing the business of the family company, which was founded in 1948 and has a turnover of around 1.3 billion euros, for almost 20 years. However, he never experienced a situation like the current one: toilet paper has never been this coveted.
Incoming orders naturally increased due to the corona crisis, yet there have been no delivery bottlenecks so far, the entrepreneur assured. “In co-operation with our customers, we are doing everything possible to ensure security of supply,” he stated. “This takes top priority right behind the health and safety of our employees.”
According to him, hygiene awareness has increased. The Robert Koch Institute also recommends the use of disposable paper towels for better hygiene – instead of towels or hand dryers.
“We have to reassess the situation every day,” stated Krengel. Overall, however, the entrepreneur assumed that “the increased hygiene awareness will persist in the long term and consumers will attach greater importance to hand cleaning with paper towels”. Added Krengel: “Especially since it's the most hygienic option.”
