CIRCULAR PRODUCTION WITH HONEXT® FIBREBOARDS
Honext Material and WEPA have jointly established the joint venture Honext × WEPA GmbH, which is providing fresh impetus for circular production in Europe: it forms part of the WEPA Business Unit Circular Solutions, established in 2024, and combines WEPA fibre materials derived from waste paper processing with Honext Material’s processing technology. Under the strong umbrella brand HONEXT®, a new generation of fibreboards is thus being created: they are Cradle to Cradle® Gold certified and hold the Material Health Certificate™ Gold Level 4.0, impressing with both their design and functionality.
The world is changing: the global population is growing, and with it the demand for resources. Our current patterns of production and consumption are increasingly reaching their natural limits. This calls for new ways of thinking – and new solutions.

Honext Material and WEPA are entering into a strong, forward-looking partnership that opens up new avenues for circular value creation. The answer lies in the circular economy – a system that uses resources efficiently, closes material loops and creates sustainable value.
Hygiene and construction – previously separate sectors – are now joining forces; through their collaboration, they are transforming fibre materials – which are produced at WEPA as part of the waste paper recycling process for the manufacture of hygiene paper and are already being used responsibly and efficiently – into high-quality materials for interior design that can be recycled at the end of their life cycle.

SMART MATERIALS FOR A CIRCULAR FUTURE
HONEXT® fibreboards, manufactured from fibres and recycled fibres, are designed to be circular. They are certified as free from harmful substances and can be recycled at the end of their life cycle. Their technical development is geared towards maximum performance. The fibreboards offer the following properties:
- fire-retardant
- lightweight
- durable
Production takes place at a state-of-the-art facility in Kriebstein, Germany. The immediate proximity to our plant ensures direct access to raw materials and infrastructure and creates favourable conditions for resource-efficient production with the potential to further reduce the carbon footprint – a key locational advantage for the European market launch of HONEXT® fibreboards.
