Circular Services
for the circular economy
Circular Services by WEPA enables organisations to actively participate in the circular economy. We use used towel paper from companies as the raw material for new hygiene paper, which is then supplied back to the companies involved. This creates a closed loop that conserves resources, tangibly reduces residual waste and combines hygiene in a unique way with sustainability.

1. Participating organisation
Towel paper is used to dry hands in the washrooms of participating organisations.
2. Washroom
Used towel paper is disposed of separately in the washrooms.
3. Collection point
Towel paper is then collected separately in specific containers.
4. Transport
This ‘paper waste’ is transported to WEPA by the disposal company as a raw material for hygiene paper.
5. Return
The new WEPA hygiene paper is delivered back to the organisation via a service and distribution partner: this completes the circle.
In just over a year, TRILUX, the German market leader for technical lighting solutions, has already collected 3.3 tonnes of recyclable towel paper in cooperation with WEPA, thus avoiding residual waste.
For nine years now, we have been demonstrating in the Netherlands that the circular concept also functions for hygiene paper. In 2020 the successful concept was exported to Germany.
Companies and municipal administrations as well as zoos and universities are taking part. The service is a resounding success: since launching the retrieval concept we have already been able to save 30 million litres of water, 860,000 kWh of energy and 1,100 tonnes of carbon emissions.
