Fibre-based materials for industrial applications
From high-quality secondary fibre pulp and parent rolls to the bio-based raw material lignin: discover fibre-based materials from various stages and material streams in the production of tissue paper, for a wide range of industrial applications in the paper, packaging and chemical industries.
Drawing on its expertise in fibres, recycling and processes from the tissue industry, WEPA develops materials for a range of other industrial value chains. Premium Recycled Pulp opens up further applications for recycled fibres and can be used as a raw material for various paper and packaging applications. Jumbo rolls enable efficient further processing into hygiene papers, whilst Premium Lignin opens up prospects for bio-based applications. In this way, WEPA combines the proven quality of its core business with additional uses for materials based on recycled fibres, which help to conserve resources. Compared with the wood-based virgin fibres used by WEPA, WEPA’s recycled fibres were found to require up to 78 per cent less energy, 83 per cent less water and to have an ecological footprint up to 81 per cent smaller. Additional uses for existing material streams from production contribute to the circular economy in the sense of circular value creation, as by-products are utilised in a commercially profitable way rather than being disposed of in an environmentally harmful manner.
