Sustainable hygiene paper portfolio

Our approach to portfolio development

We are committed to continuously developing our hygiene paper portfolio. To this end, we have developed the Sustainable Portfolio Compass, an internal assessment system that helps us identify opportunities for development within our portfolio. At the same time, the Compass provides transparency regarding selected product criteria and enables a structured classification of products. This allows our customers to understand how products are categorised based on the criteria taken into account, and to factor this information into their product range decisions.

Transparency through the Sustainable Portfolio Compass

We assess every product in our hygiene paper portfolio using the Sustainable Portfolio Compass. This internal assessment system considers defined criteria, including raw material sourcing, packaging type, logistics efficiency and product certifications such as Blauer Engel or EU Ecolabel. Based on the assessment, each product is assigned to one of four internal categories: Pioneer, Driver, Observer or Deviator. The categories support the structured classification and development of our portfolio. They do not represent an independent comparison of the overall market. In 2025, Pioneer products accounted for 18.3% of our revenue, Driver for 28.2%, Observer for 48.6% and Deviator for 4.9%. Overall, Driver and Pioneer products generated 46.5% of revenue. Our goal is to increase their combined revenue share to 60% by 2030. Deviator products are to be further developed or discontinued by 2030. For more information on the Compass and our progress, see the WEPA Sustainability Report (p. 63).

Raw materials

Future fibres

We aim to use raw materials with the best environmental performance based on circular economy. Our objective is to establish hygiene paper products based on recycled fibres on the market, procure fibres from responsible sources and continuously develop our raw material portfolio via innovative alternatives – and at the same time tap into other innovative and sustainable raw materials.
