Sustainable hygiene paper portfolio
WEPA Sustainability Report 2022 ↓

Sustainable hygiene paper portfolio

We aspire to offer the most sustainable hygiene paper portfolio to make our customers successful.

To achieve this, we have developed a rating system. With this approach, we have evaluated our entire hygiene paper in terms of aspects of sustainability. The results can be used to identify options for the sustainable further development of our portfolio, and to transparently communicate with customers on how to make their product range more environmentally friendly. Currently, our focus is also on innovative packaging solutions. Among other things, we have set the target of using recycled material for 60% of our packaging material by 2025 and saving 8,000 tons of primary plastics in our packaging every year.

Sustainable products for joint success

WEPA’s Sustainable Portfolio Compass takes into consideration aspects along the entire value chain: Raw materials, environmental impacts in production, packaging, logistics, product use as well as certificates and labels associated with the product.

Depending on the result, the products are placed in one of four assessment categories: Products with a low sustainability performance fall into the “Deviator” segment; “Observer” products are characterised by a solid sustainability standard; and products in the “Driver” segment have an above-average sustainability performance and are advancing our ambitions in the market. New standards are set by products in the top category “Pioneer”. The Sustainable Portfolio Compass was developed in cooperation with an external partner and on the basis of scientific analyses as well as many years of market and product expertise.
